How Do You Make a Baby Smile? (our favorite picture books - new feature)

I mentioned in my last post that I intend to introduce new features to this blog. I thought I'd start by sharing some of our favorite picture books. I planned events at a bookstore for four years, primarily in the children's section, so I've got quite a few favorites from pre-2004. I'm now trying to catch up on what I've missed in the last 5 or so years (I really miss being so acquainted with the book industry).

Abigail's current favorite is How Do You Make a Baby Smile by Philemon Sturges. I don't remember exactly how we discovered this book. It was either featured at storytime at the library or I found it on a display. I checked it out about two months ago, and we've read it nearly every day. Each page shows a different animal parent trying to get its child to smile. The first time my husband read it, he asked Abigail to do what the animals were doing. Our favorite is Mama Elephant wiggling her ears (which causes Abigail to grab an ear in each hand and wiggle).

We're very sad that this book is due to go back next week. Perhaps the Easter Bunny will leave it in a sweet little girl's basket?
