We discovered pretzel rolls about a year and a half ago when we had dinner at Weber Grill in Chicago. They serve these instead of bread before the meal. It's just pretzel dough shaped into a bun instead of a knot, but they are magic.
Then a few months ago we saw the pretzel episode of Good Eats on the Food Network, and my husband decided to look for a recipe. He found this one on Recipezaar. They were a huge hit. (We've actually found quite a few recipes on recipezaar.com that we love.)
We each had a couple, then took some to some of our neighbors and we still had just enough to use as hamburger buns the next day. They make fabulous hamburger buns. I'm trying to convince him to make them as hot dog buns too. I'm not a huge fan of hot dogs but I don't think it would be so bad to have one on a pretzel roll.
I think I might need to convince him to make another batch soon, regardless of the shape. Yum.
