Vermicomposting - Or, We're Getting a Worm Farm

Monkey Georgia asked, as we were picking worms out of the composting vegetation, "How do worms sleep? I think they sleep all curled up."

I suspected that since they don't have a brain that they don't sleep, and I certainly couldn't imagine a worm sleeping. I told her we could look it up when we went inside.

After I pulled up a kid-friendly site about worm composting, I learned that I was correct. Worms do not have a central nervous system and therefore do not sleep.

I called Monkey Georgia over to read her the information.

"Was I right? Do they sleep all curled up?" she asked. Can I just say that it cracks me up to hear a 4 year old say that?
